"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
Acts 1:8
On June 18th through June 27th, members of the Youth Department at Lakeside Baptist Church traveled to the “Big Apple” on a mission trip. It was a valuable experience for our youth, to help spread the gospel as “short-term missionaries” as well as see one of the busiest cities in the country. From there, they could literally reach the world!
They were be involved in helping one of Lakeside’s missionaries, Richard Johnson, with two churches in the Brooklyn area. In January, he requested help from supporting churches to assist in evangelism and the discipleship of believers. Our desire was to be a blessing to him and his ministry.
The goal was for this trip to be a success and an honor to the Lord. Like all missionaries, they needed support. The youth department worked hard to raise the funds needed for this trip. There was a church wide yard sale on Saturday, May 9th, as well as a church luncheon on Sunday, May 17th with catering donated by the BBQ Barn, Inc. The youth also sold church shirts designed by Lakeside staff and volunteers.
