"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
Acts 1:8

From July 15th through 29th, our college & young adult class went to Africa on a mission trip! The purpose of the trip was to help veteran missionary church planters as they begin a new work in the city of George, South Africa. George is situated on the southern coast of South Africa within the Western Cape Province, and an area known as the Garden Route. It is located about four hours from Cape Town (by vehicle), and has a population of approximately 150,000. Click here to view the time and weather in Cape Town.

The host family, Bryant and Sharan Crane, have faithfully served the Lord in South Africa for over eighteen years. The Lord has richly blessed their ministry as they have been involved in planting many churches in the Cape area.

The group was involved in various types of ministry . . . singing, preaching, canvassing, witnessing, and working on any building projects where they were needed, in addition to conducting Bible clubs and youth rallies.

Their goal was to be an encourangement to the missionaries as well as their congregation as they worked side by side with them to get the Word of God out in the city of George.

Each young adult endeavored to raise money to fund their trip. The class, with the help of leaders in the church, put together a two Speghetti Dinners in order to raise funds. The class worked for days in advance to feed around 400 hungry church goers.

In addition to the dinners, Lakeside hosted a golf tournament on May 1st. Many local business and individuals donated funds and services that helped make the tournament a success. Click here to see a list of contributors and sponsors, as well a pictures from the tournament.
